Tasmanian Hypotheticals - Small Town, Big Changes

The Tasmanian Department of Economic Development commissioned the Centre for Leadership to create and present a Hypothetical, "Small Town, Big Changes", as part of its community education and outreach work.  Peter Thompson presented the Hypothetical at public events in Hobart in November 2006 and in Launceston and Burnie in February 2007.

The action took place in a hypothetical "Port Hopeful" where environmental changes threatened the existing economy based on fishing.  The panels in the three cities grappled with the challenges of how to capitalise on Port Hopeful's social networks to overcome the upheaval caused by the economic shock.  Peter Thompson will talk about his experiences as host of the Hypothetical at the "Ten Days on the Island" festival in Hobart on 24th March 2007.
